As mentioned in Dan Shea’s column from last week, Vitrium Systems has released protectedpdf Small Business Edition (SBE). Randa Codron, Marketing Manager for Vitrium said this release is the first DRM solution that does not require readers to download and install either a plug-in for Adobe Reader or a third-party proprietary viewer.
The service is web-based and users can establish a specific login for their protectedpdf account and transform standard PDF files into secure protectedpdf documents.
Users can also secure selected pages within a PDF and design customized in-document login forms with congruent logos and color schemes.
All documents created are fully viewable in Adobe Reader 6.0 or higher. Additionally, users can set documents to auto-unlock when authorized readers re-open them.
Users can also modify and revoke reader permissions — even after a document has been distributed. The web-based system also gives users the ability to disable text copying and document printing.
There are several subscription levels available as well as a free 7 day trial. For information on the web-based system and entry pricing users can go to protectedpdf.com.
