This week in PDF: Updates galore

This week in PDF has seen a flurry of updates, including those to an online PDF security service, a desktop publishing program and a PDF-to-Word converter.

First up, Drumlin Security has announced significant improvements to its Drumlin PDF reader/publisher and associated digital rights management (DRM) service. New facilities include Apple Mac support, Multi-language operation, Secure watermarking and a range of new secure distribution and Licensing options. The Drumlin service has a zero entry cost and includes its free or licensed Drumlin PDF reader/publisher coupled with a very competitively priced digital rights management (DRM) service. In other update news, Serif has updated its flagship desktop publishing product. PagePlus X3 includes over 1500 new designs amongst its 2500 templates, logos and graphics. ‘Design Packs’ offer themed business publications including posters, brochures, web sites, and promotional emails alongside letterheads and business cards. PDF documents can be opened directly in PagePlus X3 with all text, graphics and photos ready to move, recolor, resize, reuse and embellish. PagePlus’s PDF profiles include settings varying from for press-ready PDF/X-1a files and web-optimised PDFs for speedily sharing with the world online. Check out for more information.

Finally, Solid Documents has released Solid Converter PDF to Word v4, the company’s PDF-to-Word conversion solution. This version includes a WYSIWYG interface, drag and drop PDF creation, improved image and table extraction, and a new scripting tool for batch conversion.
