This week in PDF, FTA jumps on the Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG) bandwagon, Prepress Training Solution (PTS) adds online training for Enfocus’s PDF creation tool, and Adobe’s Q2 revenue set to slip due to lower-than-expected Spring demand.
First up, the benignly-borg-like Ghent PDF Workgroup standards body has assimilated another member, in this case, Flexographic Technical Association (try saying that three times fast!). Otherwise known as FTA, the professional society is dedicated to the support and advancement of the flexographic printing industry. In another related development, FTA will be hosting the next meeting of GWG’s packaging subcommittee during Louisville, Kentucky’s FFTA Annual Forum & INFO*FLEX Exhibition. For more information, check out the GWG Web site.
Still on the PDF prepress theme, Prepress Training Solution adds a course on Enfocus Instant PDF to a suite of online offerings that already includes courses on Enfocus PitStop Professional and PitStop Server. Instant PDF simplifies the process of creating PDF files that display reliably and comply with printer requirements. More on PTS’s online courses can be found on the PTS Web site.
In other news, Adobe’s intra-quarter business update mitigates the optimism it displayed when it published its financial target ranges for Q2 on March 22, 2006. Adobe now expects that it will achieve quarterly results in the low end of those target ranges. The update indicated that overall sales performance had been affected by lower-than-expected demand during the Spring holiday periods in Europe and North America. See Adobe.com for more details.
That’s it for this week! Until next time…
