This week in PDF: Planet PDF goes on the road

As the Planet PDF team gears up for the Adobe Acrobat and PDF Conference, this week in PDF sees a pair of awards going to UNIVERSE Software and an upgrade to an e-Filing solution.

First up, Planet PDF is looking forward to attending this year’s edition of the Adobe Acrobat and PDF Conference at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, located in Disney World. With three topical streams over two days of seminars and featured keynotes from both former US Veep-cum-movie star Al Gore and Google’s VP, Search Products & User Experience, Marissa Mayer, it’s shaping up to be a big show. Planet PDF Contributing Editor Nettie Hartsock will be reporting from the event, so do watch this space. To find out more, check out the conference Web site.

From conferences to podiums, now, and the masters of UNIVERSE Software must be pretty happy with themselves right now. An independent jury of experts from information and communications technology publications has adjudged the company’s PDF solutions worthy of not one but two awards. Both gongs were awarded for innovation in small-to-medium-sized business solutions, and UNIVERSE’s wins came in the office organization and IT security categories. More information about UNIVERSE Software’s PDF solutions can be found on the vendor Web site.

Speaking of juries, our final news item of the week takes us into the courtroom as Omtool upgrades its e-Filing solution. AccuRoute 2.2 now delivers the ability to convert any document — including those only available in paper — into a text-searchable PDF (or other required format), compress the document and merge it with corresponding documents for simultaneous delivery to the required court house and any additional recipients. Other enhancements include manipulation of document file size to comply with e-Filing restrictions. For more, see the Omtool Web site.

That’s it for this week. Watch this space!
