This week in PDF: New module allows PDF digital signing from SharePoint

This week in PDF has seen the release of a module that adds PDF-signing capabilities to Microsoft SharePoint, the launch of a new PDF to print-on-demand (POD) service and a change of address for a provider of 3D PDF solutions.

First up, ARX, Inc. has announced the second generation of its CoSign for SharePoint module. The plug-in was developed with WSS3.0 SDK, and is integrated with both Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) to enable out-of-the-box deployments. The new module allows workflow integration, signer control, enhanced security, and external trust within the SharePoint environment. Additionally, CoSign for SharePoint enables users to digitally sign centrally-located PDF documents without requiring them to be checked out to a local PC. In other news, Epigraph Publishing Service has launched its newest self-publishing option. PDF to POD converts PDF files into print-on-demand books distributed worldwide via Amazon and Ingram Book Company. The program is designed for authors who wish to retain their own book designer. Authors publishing under the new PDF to POD sign under Epigraph’s Basic publishing agreement, which features worldwide distribution. The agreement also allows authors to publish under their own imprints or set their own retail prices and wholesale discounts. See the Epigraph website for more.

Finally, Visual Technology Services, developer of the PDF3D suite of products for 3D PDF technical publishing, has announced its acquisition of the PDF3D.COM domain name from Sébastien Chevalier, founder and CTO of VB2S. Visual Technology Services plans to transition from its present home at www.pdf3d.co.uk to the newly acquired domain to consolidate its branding. You can find out more by visiting Visual Technology Services at its new home.

That’s it for this week. Watch this space!
