This week in PDF: Gore to headline May PDF conference

As Halloween and tip-off for the NBA’s 2006/07 regular season approach, this week in PDF sees the announcement of a PDF conference and the release of PDF forms and routing solutions.

First up, the new forms solution from ITM Associates includes support for both IBM Workplace Forms and legacy PDFs. The functionality is designed to facilitate the adoption of open-standards based forms to increase the efficiency, security and flexibility of day-to-day business transactions. inFusion eForms 6.0 delivers a point-and-click portal for electronic forms routing, workflow, security, and data integration, and enables organizations to use advanced features of Workplace Forms without the aid of software programmers. Also released this week was PDF-eXPLODE, an electronic document distribution tool. According to its U.S. distributor, The Outbox, the tool will make it easy and cost-effective for small businesses to get important information to their customers, vendors and employees. PDF-eXPLODE users can convert reports or other office documents into batches of individual PDF attachments and securely send them out via email. When used with a task scheduler, the product allows users to automate routine mailings for hands-free delivery. More about PDF-eXPLODE can be found at

Last but not least, organizers have announced the dates for the fifth annual Adobe Acrobat and PDF Conference, to be held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida. The event, targeted at PDF users of all stripes, will run from May 9-10, with pre- and post-conference workshops to run on May 8 and May 11, respectively. A keynote from former U.S. Vice President Al Gore will headline the show, which this year will be co-located with the CreativeTech conference, which has been scheduled for the same dates. Adobe Acrobat & PDF Conference delegates will also have free access to the CreativeTech event. Full details are at the conference Web site.

That’s it for this week! Until next time…
