This week in PDF has seen a deal signed between Global Graphics and Quark, the release of a corporate ‘quick start’ package and an update to PDF compression tool.
First up, Quark Inc. and Global Graphics have inked a multi-year pact to add features to forthcoming Quark products based on Global Graphics’ eDocument Library. The library in question allows application developers to integrate file format conversion, manipulation, analysis and optimization capability into their products.
Tim Banister, general manager of desktop products for Quark said, ‘We chose to partner with Global Graphics on the strength of their eDocument Library. By working with Global Graphics we are able to stay on the cutting-edge of the technology behind emerging file formats, from PDF and beyond, so that we can offer the best solutions to our customers.’

In other news, Integration New Media Inc. (INM) has announced the availability of a new Corporate eLibrary Quick Start Package for organizations looking to bring volumes of content online. This package is designed to help organizations create rich, web-based digital libraries from collections of documents and other information sources. INM eLibrary provides corporate librarians with the ability to repurpose existing documents as-is, without the hassles of converting to HTML or other formats. The solution leverages PDF files, an ISO-standard format, which allows organizations to take advantage of the tools and processes they already have in place. Finally, CVISION Technologies, Inc. has released an update to the Desktop edition its PDF compression utility. CVista PdfCompressor 4.0 Desktop Edition boasts improvements in compression quality, OCR recognition accuracy, and speed.
