This week in PDF: Creation, conversion and central conferences

As the early registration deadline for the Adobe Acrobat Central Conference draws near, this week in PDF has been a big one for conversion to and from PDF, with the release of three different tools in that vein.

On the PDF creation front, FinePrint Software has launched a major upgrade to its PDF creation product. pdfFactory Pro 3 enables users to create company letterhead, on which content can be printed and sent electronically as a PDF document. It also allows for consistent page numbering, and headers and footers across any set of documents that comprise the PDF. For more, check out FinePrint.com.

Still on that theme, activePDF has likewise updated its free PDF creation tool, PrimoPDF. Version 3.0 comprises full support for 64-bit machines, double-byte character and non-TrueType font support, enhanced support for Microsoft Windows 98, ME, and NT and improved PDF output. The update also introduces several enhancements to related commercial products, PrimoPDF Enterprise and PrimoPDF API. For full release details, visit the activePDF Web site.

The next cab off the rank is Investintech.com, which has updated its PDF conversion product. Able2Extract 4.0 boasts such new features as PDF to Powerpoint conversion, improved PDF to HTML conversion, PDF data export to MS Excel files and an updated user interface. Investintech.com has the full details and a freely downloadable trial version of the software.

Last but not least, this is just a friendly reminder that the early registration deadline for the inaugural Adobe Acrobat Central Conference to be held in Council Bluffs, IA’s Mid America Center is fast approaching. Registrations made by September 29 will qualify for the discount, and you can register online directly from the conference Web site.

That’s it for this week! Until next time…
