This week in PDF: 3-Heights PDF tools updated

This week in PDF has seen an update to a developer product family and PDF functionality added to a digital signature solution.

First up, PDF Tools AG has released Version 1.9 of the 3-Heights product family. Available as programming libraries (APIs), command line shell tools and Windows Services, the software tools cover a range of functions, including creating, viewing, and printing PDF documents, along with converting both to and from PDF and PDF/A. The new version adds an OCR server to many of the tools and adds support for Windows 7. For more on the specific products, check out the official PDF Tools website.

In other news, DocuSign has added PDF functionality to its eSignature service. DocuSign version 10.1 can now automatically recognize and convert PDF form fields into secure DocuSign fields that can be assigned to specific recipients. This allows users to simply upload PDF files and manipulate the resulting DocuSign form fields without purchasing any additional software. Pricing and additional product information can be found on the official vendor website.

That’s it for this week. Watch this space!
