Before grown-up gamers were busting moves as Lara Croft or shooting extraterrestrial baddies as Gordon Freeman, there was a more innocent time in gaming. A time when kids twiddled their collective thumbs to control a rambunctious plumber to the strains of looping MIDI masterpieces. That’s right, we’re talking about the salad days when Nintendo still towered over the console market as the Coca-Cola to Sega’s Pepsi. It was a fateful day in 1988 when the first issue of ‘Nintendo Power‘ was released, and an enterprising webmaster has scanned the entire publication and made it available as a free download, complete with reviews, game guides and cheesy 80s ads.
