Promotional contest for PDF Print Production Guide, 2nd Edition

During April 2003, we hosted a promotional contest for
and gave away eight copies of the highly regarded book ‘HREF=’′
TARGET=’_NEW’>PDF Print Production Guide,’ by Joseph
Marin and Julie Shaffer of GATF. At the time we said ‘To be
honest, we wouldn’t blame you or feel offended if you went
right ahead and purchased a copy from GATF Press rather than
enter our contest. In fact, if you use PDF in a printing and
prepress environment, you’ll be an April Fool if you don’t
obtain a copy one way or another.’

The authors have recently published an
updated edition of the book, and again are collaborating
with Planet PDF to offer randomly selected members of our
global community the chance to win one of eight free copies
— two copies per week for the next month — of the ‘HREF=’′
TARGET=’_NEW’>PDF Print Production Guide, Second
Edition.’ And again, if you use PDF for printing and
publishing, we wouldn’t blame you for rushing over to the
GATF Press site to purchase a copy in order to start
learning more right away about PDF-oriented solutions and
techniques specific to prepress and print production.

GATF Press says:

height=’162′ align=’right’ border=’1′ alt=’PDF Print Production Guide’>’This unique
guide is based on real-life scenarios. In response to the
printer survey reporting the most common problems with PDF
files from clients, The PDF Print Production Guide covers
PDF and production workflow solutions, Acrobat 6, Mac OS X,
print-related PDF plug-ins, and an introduction to PDF
forms. As in the first edition, the core of this guide is
its step-by-step instruction on fixing those PDF problems
that plague print production facilities, including
transparency, trapping, layers, and more. Additionally
co-authors Joe Marin and Julie Shaffer, both PIA/GATF
prepress experts and instructors, share the answers to
common PDF problems they’ve heard from printers time and
time again at PIA/GATF’s training programs and nationwide
seminars. All information has been thoroughly tested in the
PIA/GATF labs, assuring its reliability.’
