Marzkware files patent infringement suit against Artwork Systems Group, Enfocus Software

Santa Ana, Calif.-based Markzware, a developer of workflow solutions for graphic arts, printing, publishing and digital multimedia companies, has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles, California against Artwork Systems Group.

Patrick Marchese, President of Markzware said in the statement release, ‘The preflighting described in the ‘641 patent and owned by Markzware, has been used without our consent. Accordingly, we plan to protect and defend our patent which is fundamental to our flagship product line, FlightCheck.’

Marchese has not made any other comment and was unavailable for comment as this story went to press. When contacted, Enfocus’s Erik Cullins, CMO also declined to comment on the announcement.

The suit alleges that products manufactured and sold by Artwork Systems infringe upon Markzware’s U.S. Patent No. 5,963,641 for a ‘Device and method for examining, verifying, correcting and approving electronic documents prior to printing, transmission or recording.’

The complaint seeks ‘monetary and injunctive relief’ for Markzware. Stay tuned as we follow this story in upcoming weeks.
