Deque releases upgraded Web accessibility software

Deque Systems Inc. has released Deque Ramp Ascend, an updated software solution to remediate Web site accessibility. The software enables Web developers to interactively remediate sites for Rehabilitation Act, Section 508 compliance, as well as the World Wide Web Consortium Web Accessibility Initiative Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (W3C WAI WCAG).

A companion solution, Deque Undoc for PDF empowers the transformation of non-accessible PDF content into accessible HTML, which can then be transformed into accessible PDF with supported, third-party PDF generation tools.

‘Deque Ramp Ascend brings millions of more users to the Internet by eliminating the obstacles experienced by persons with disabilities. Using Deque Ramp Ascend, developers manage Web site accessibility as part of their systems development life cycle.’ says Preety Kumar, President of Deque Systems Inc. ‘Over 100 Million people in North America, Australia, Great Britain, and the European Union face significant challenges due to Web usability concerns. The estimated economic impact is some $100 Billion per year in lost revenue. Our mission is to make the Web for everyone and in so doing, we elevate Web-based commerce.’

Deque Ramp Ascend is tightly integrated with the most popular Web site tools: Macromedia Dreamweaver and Macromedia HomeSite. In addition, Deque Ramp Grade integrates with Mercury TestDirector. All plug-ins are included with Deque Ramp Ascend.

‘We’re very excited about this new release of Ramp Ascend,’ stated Mike Paciello, President of The Paciello Group, a leader in accessible Web and software services. ‘Our engineers depend on a number of tools in our development, Q/A and usability practices. Our investment in Ascend is based on its ability to deliver reliable results and complement Macromedia, Mercury and our other tool sets.’
