Appligent recently announced the release of a server-based application that allows the creation of PDF from PostScript and TIFF data streams. In addition to its PDF creation capabilities, PDF Foundry can correct malformed PDF or add encryption and document information to existing PDF files. The product also incorporates a Windows-based administration utility that generates XML files, which in turn configure the application and set the output parameters to optimize the file based on its final destination (e.g. high resolution printing, online delivery or somewhere in between.)
‘Today’s corporate workflows include print output, scanned images and more often malformed PDF from various sources,’ said Michael Karbe, president of Actino Software. ‘Appligent’s PDF Foundry is a production grade solution for companies with demanding requirements that exceed the quality or capacity of shareware or open source solutions. PDF Foundry offers exceptional value to the power user compared with other products in this class.’
PDF Foundry is part of Appligent’s Appending/Publishing Family of products, and is currently available from the company website.
