Adobe has launched the Adobe Acrobat X software family, which includes: Acrobat X, Reader X, the Acrobat X Suite and new document exchange services at Acrobat.com.
According to Melissa Webster, an analyst for IDC:
‘With Acrobat X, streamlined document commenting and collaboration improves sharing ideas and information. For us, it helps accelerate our internal learning processes and gives our clients the tools to work together more effectively. Seamless, fluid content creation and collaboration is critical to how organizations use, repurpose and share information — it is no longer a ‘nice to have’ — it is an imperative to success in today’s business world.’
Acrobat X adds the ability to automate routine tasks using Actions, expands the number of options available for use with PDF Portfolios, adds SharePoint integration, supports the latest document standards, and boasts an updated user interface. Meanwhile, Adobe Reader X adds commenting functionality, enhanced security, and expands support for mobile devices, with new versions released for Android, Windows Phone 7 and Blackberry Tablet OS. New services at Acrobat.com include Adobe SendNow, a document exchange service that enables users to send, receive and track large files, along with Adobe CreatePDF for converting files into PDF documents from within Adobe Reader X or a Web browser.
